Next preparation for the national neon event
(N2K3) began. I found a simple used nitrous
system and bought a new MSD DIS2 and
barely had it all in before it was time to drive
1000 miles to the event in Rockford, IL.
In this pic you'll see a heat shield covering
the MSD box, that I fabbed up for the long 14
hours of hot driving the neon was to endure.
The NX system was a single fogger type
setup for a 75 HP shot with a small 5 pound
bottle mounted transverse behind the
driver's seat. This allowed me to open the
bottle while seated, but proved to be less
than perfect for N2O distribution later on.
The car was the quickest and fastest
non-turbo 2nd gen neon at the event, with a
14.8 ET on the 17" Yokahama Spec 2 street
wheel and tire setup.
Here it is in staging lane #6 at Rt. 66 drag
strip in Joliet, IL.
